L'Occitane Cocoa Flower Lip Balm

L'Occitane are one of those brands that I seem to hear a lot about, but I never really buy from myself. They're on the more expensive side, which is probably why, but I also have a habit of buying it for other people, even though I don't really use a lot of their products myself! My mum found a voucher for a free gift in the newspaper, and wanted to know if I wanted it (there wasn't much of a chance that I'd say no was there?) and I happily ran off to L'Occitane that day and picked this up. I suffer from very dry lips anyway, particularly at this time of year.

I was quite surprised by the tube format. I'm used to having the stick or round tin format, so this was a new one for me. The packaging is really pretty, and it's still nice and compact. I love the patterned packaging, and it also has a screw on lid, so there's no chance of it coming undone in my bag (you wouldn't believe how many times this has happened with other tube products that I own).

I was expecting this balm to have a creamy texture, but it's more like a clear gel, a little bit like lip gloss. It left my lips feeling very soft and smooth, and it also left a glossy finish. I can't decide if I like the glossiness of it yet. I tend to wear lip balm underneath lipstick quite a lot, and this isn't quite suitable for that. However it is perfect on days where you want some product on your lips without having to wear a lipstick. I suppose it's like a moisturing clear gloss.

You only need to use the smallest amount of this product, a little bit goes a long way. Too much of it can make your lips feel slick and a bit oily. It also smells divine, it's very sweet.

This lip balm is expensive but you only need the tiniest amount of it. I can see this tube lasting a very long time!

This lip balm costs £8.50 and can be bought from L'Occitane. Unfortunately it is a limited edition product.

In other news, I receieved my timetable for uni yesterday...So far I have two 9am starts, which isn't great since I'll have to be on the bus before 7:30, but luckily I have all the modules that I wanted for next year! It also means that I might be vanishing a little bit in October while I get adjusted, so bear with me!

What's your favourite lip balm?

Disclosure: This product was free with a voucher from a newspaper.

  1. I am always put off by the price of L'Occitane products too but I have heard that they are an excellent brand - probably why they're so expensive! This lip balm looks really moisturising and smoothing, brilliant for something that was free!

I usually hate screw up lip balm tubes, I find most of them to be really drying! The only one that I really like and my holy grail lip balm is the Burt's Bees Honey Lip Balm! It is perfect for applying under lipstick!

I got a 1ml free sample of Dermalogica's Renewal Lip Complex when I used to subscribe to Glossy Box and it literally is THE most amazing lip smoothing/moisturising balm I have ever tried.. the only down side is it costs £23 for 1.75ml!!! Absolutely crazy! It's safe to say that I will never be buying that but I've saved my free sample for special occasions - there is strangely quite a lot of it in the tube for something that is supposed to only be 1ml worth!

I hope you enjoy your start back at uni - don't worry about us, we'll still be here! ~♥~

    1. Me too, I've always had good feedback when I've bought things as gifts for other people! I can't believe it was free, I was expecting a miniature version. It's very moisturising, the texture took me awhile to get used to but I'll definitely be getting a lot of use out of it in winter!

I love Burt's Bees! I think they're still my favourite.

Woah £23?! I would definitely be using that sparingly! Makes this one seem very cheap doesn't it? I'm not sure I could justify it for lip balm.

Thank you! I'm looking forward to getting back in a routine. Should be fine once I get back into the rhythm of things!

  2. I never bought nothing from them, but i never heard anything but good things about their products.
I'm quite a lazy person when it comes to take care of my body, so although my lips are always quite dry i tend to forget to use something to make it other way around.

I wish you the best of luck on your new uni schedule, i miss the going to school feeling, it fits so nice with autumn time, don't get away too many time though, you will be missed.

    1. I think I would be lazy with my lips if I didn't wear lipstick nearly all the time, the dry areas make it cling to my lips so I always use a balm now. I use a lip scrub which is probably the best thing that I've ever bought for my lips, it makes them so much nicer!

Thank you! It certainly does make it feel more autumn-y! I should be fine once I adjust to my schedule. Luckily I don't finish as late as I did the year before so I won't be crawling into bed as soon as I get home!
