NOTD: Barry M Tangerine with black tips

It feels like it has been ages since I got round to doing one of these posts! My nails have been breaking constantly, and they're now very short, and it seems like whenever they grow the slightest bit they break again. Whenever my nails are short I try to do something a bit more interesting with them. I'm not very good at nail art to say the least. My hands are very shaky and it almost always goes wrong. I decided to try something different again yesterday, and this was the result.

This is Tangerine by Barry M, with Illamasqua Scorn on the tips. I added a top coat to take away the matte effect of Scorn. I can't find my glossy black that I own anywhere, so I had to improvise. The first finger is very messy, it didn't dry as fast as the others so when I applied the tips it pulled the polish a bit.

The orange could have done with another coat (I used two here) as it applies a little sheer. I used one coat of Scorn for the tips.

I don't think it looks too terrible, but it would certainly look better if it was neater! I like the overall effect though, it's a bit Halloween-y (it's never too early to get excited about Halloween) and it was very easy to do.

Barry M polishes cost £2.99 and can be bought from their website, and Illamasqua polishes cost £13.50 and can be bought here.

Have you tried either of these polishes? What did you think?

Disclosure: I bought these polishes myself.

  2. Thank you! I'm hoping that they'll get neater the more I practise. The orange is one that I would never normally buy, it looks good with black. :)

  3. Oooooooo! O_o I love it! Definitely very halloweeny and fun! I love the look of Barry M's Tangerine - I'm not usually a orange nail polish fan but at this time of year I really don't mind it if it is paired with something darker! So awesome! Halloweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen :D ~♥~

    1. Thank you! It was so easy to do, but I'm so annoyed about the first finger messing up! I very nearly waited until October to post this but I saw Christmas cards in Tesco the other day and decided it was definitely a good time to get excited about Halloween! :D I agree, orange is a bit too neon for me but it looks great with black.

  4. Looks very Halloween-y! I really like the tips of your nails. :)

I haven't tried any of those polishes, simply because I can't find them anywhere here.. Which can be annoying at times.

    1. Thank you!

It sounds annoying. :( There's a lot of things that I can't get hold of here and I have to order them online. I prefer to be able to go in and look at things though, especially because postage can be expensive.

    1. It is isn't it? I don't think I could wear it on it's own. It's the kind of colour that I would always walk past but I'm really glad that I went for it this time! Thank you for the mention lovely! I'll go and have a read now. :)

That whole blogger refreshing thing is annoying isn't it?! Keeps happening to me all the time!

    2. Yeah that's true, it's got the kind of juicy feel to it, it's not a flat orange, it's got depth, god I just love it! I can't believe it's started happening to me now, I had faith in Blogger, it's betrayed me :( xx

    3. It has some shimmer to it too. It reminded me of Halloween as soon as I looked at it!

I'm slowly beginning to get used to Blogger being glitchy. :( If I write long comments I've started saving them before I post them, just in case!
