Update

Hi everyone. I just wanted to post a little update on here to explain my absence and also to say that I won't be present on here for possibly a few weeks more.

My Nanna passed away on Sunday after struggling with alzheimers for eight years. My little Thomasina followed her on Wednesday as she was finally put to sleep. This has undoubtedly been the hardest week of my life and I'm sure you all understand that this means that I haven't really been thinking much about blogging or frequenting any of the social networks I use very much. Right now it does feel like my life has been smashed into a thousand pieces that won't ever fit back together again, but I know it'll get easier with time. The good news in all of this is that I know my Nanna will take care of Thomasina for me and that they are both at peace now. Thomasina is resting in our garden in the sunniest spot and it's comforting to know both her and my Nanna lived  long and happy lives.

I'm also incredibly busy with uni work which isn't really helping. I have four exams to revise for and two essays to start. I will try to get some draft posts finished at some point and get them posted. I will probably be quiet on here for at least a week though while we try to get things back to normal.

So I hope you've all had a better week than I have, and I hope you're enjoying your weekend. Tomorrow my Mum and I are going to Elvaston Castle to get out of the house and see their Gothic Hall. It isn't usually open to the public and it's open for just tomorrow for a few hours so we thought we'd go and have a look. Hopefully they'll let me take my camera in!

I hope you are all having a lovely weekend.

  2. Oh Claire I am so sorry for both of your losses.. I can't even begin to imagine how you are feeling right now, but like you said, there is some comfort in knowing that your Nanna and Thomasina are together and will look after each other. It must be incredibly hard to have to deal with your uni work whilst all of this is going on too.. I hope you have a lovely time at that castle, it sounds amazing! I love nothing better than going and having a peek around old castles and stately homes open to the public, more often than not wishing that I lived among all of the beautiful Edwardian/Victorian architecture and furniture, having all of their huge gardens to myself! If you can get some pictures, I'd love to see them whenever you can post them :) ♥

    1. Thank you lovely! It has been incredibly hard but I'm glad they are at peace now even if I miss them terribly. I adore going to old castles too, we haven't had the weather for it recently but hopefully that'll improve soon! I will go over the photos I took and see if there's any worth posting!

  4. Dear Claire, really dunno what to say, there is no words who can fit such situation, I lost mine some years ago, she was my mother too, and i still mourn her every single day so I know nothing will be really helpfull right now. I hope that you find at least some confort on the way that they went together, taking care of eachother. Uni work can be a b1tch but at least its taking your mind other places, maybe its for the better that it is so much.
I sincerely want you to get better soon, and I am happy to see you have someone beside you to take you through this progress of lost, please do enjoy your walk tomorow and take your time.

  9. Oh Claire, I am so completely and utterly sorry for both of your losses! To have them both pass at the same time must be even more heartbreaking but I'm glad you've found some comfort in that they're both together now. I really hope you're doing okay. I think in some ways having a lot of uni work to do will be a blessing in disguise, I know from experience that having things to busy your mind keeps the sadness at bay for periods of time. I think you need to take time out to gather yourself back together and spend time with your family, don't worry about your blog, it'll still be there when you come back so will we! Have fun at the castle, what I wouldn't give to go to a big stately home right now thought I'm sure we'll visit plenty in the summer :) xxx
