Hi everyone! My assignments are finally over. I handed in my 12,000 words on Wednesday, so I thought I would have the weekend off to get some blog photos taken. I have now moved onto my dissertation, and it feels really quite odd to be working on the final part of my masters degree!
I very rarely post home décor posts. I adore homeware, but I unfortunately do not have much space for it (I consider this a good thing as this means I do not fill my available space with clutter). However, I recently decided to try and lighten up my bedroom area, and bought a few things to complement my new theme. My bedroom was previously purple, which I loved, but it was so dark. I thought a light grey and white scheme with black accents would brighten everything up and it would be so much easier to read and work in. With this in mind, I thought it would be nice to invest in some new art prints to decorate my very bare wall.
I discovered Thirteen Curiosities on Instagram and fell in love with her work instantly. She mentioned on her feed that she was in the process of updating her shop, and I patiently waited to see what would become available. I'm very glad that I did. I purchased two prints and a teacup. After my order arrived, I decided that a third print would work better with what I had in mind, so I made a quick second order. Overall I purchased both of the Ouija prints, an original silver on black print, and a 'Witch' teacup. She also very kindly included an extra little print of Fiona Goode from American Horror Story in my second order. I haven't framed this yet as I haven't decided where to place it.
My order arrived quickly, and was incredibly well packaged. Irritatingly, despite having to ring the doorbell to deliver my teacup parcel anyway, which was quite large, my postman decided to completely ignore the big 'Do Not Bend' label across the front of my parcel and attempted to push it through my letterbox, which bent the edges of my Ouija Planchette print. Luckily I think I managed to smooth it out so it isn't too noticeable. I'm sure my postman doesn't like me, as he's done several things like this.
The prints are beautiful. The Ouija prints are simple, elegant and add a touch of intrigue to my décor without being too overwhelming. I adore the effect of the silver on black print in the middle. I had originally intended to have just the one Ouija print and the cauldron print next to each other, but I changed my mind after receiving them. I think the three of them complement each other beautifully. I originally intended to put the cauldron print in an ornate frame, but I couldn't find one that I liked. I do like the simple frames though. The prints look rather spaced out on my photo, but I promise they are quite close together in reality.
The parcel also came with a lovely little bag of lavender, which was a really nice touch. I actually collect lavender to put underneath my pillow, because it really helps to calm my mind.
I also ordered the 'Witch' teacup. It features red floral detailing, and a gold rim around the top of the cup, with 'Witch' inscribed across the cup in curly calligraphy. I was looking forward to this cup arriving, but I was not expecting it to be so lovely. I was intending to use this for tea, but it is almost too pretty to use. I instead use it to store my favourite pieces of jewellery. I should probably order another one for tea!
The Ouija prints cost £10 for an A4 print and £7 for A5, and can be purchased here.
The 'Witch' teacup cost £13.00 and can be purchased in a different pattern here.
As you can probably tell, I can incredibly happy with all of my purchases! I am planning on decorating my bedroom soon (I have purchased new wallpaper and a few matching pieces) and I think my prints will look wonderful. I'm incredibly pleased with them,
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
