As always, the palette arrived beautifully packaged. I always admire Illamasqua's packaging. It's sleek, sophisticated and looks wonderful on my dressing table. I love the shape of this compact. It is prone to fingerprints, but it is incredibly easy to clean. The palette includes a large mirror and four eyeshadows.
Slink is a light champagne colour which is perfect for highlighting. Unfortunately my swatch does not really do this colour justice. It looks wonderful in the inner corner of the lid or underneath the brow. It has a frosted finish. I wore this shade across the lid for a job interview a few weeks ago and it worked incredibly well for a neutral look.
Focus is a medium brown. I can actually see a little bit of purple in this. It's a very interesting colour, and not one that I have ever come across before. It has the same formula as their liquid metals, which I really like. They crease when worn alone but work very well underneath a powder eyeshadow. I have several cream products by Illamasqua, and I love all of them.
Forgiveness is a matte red with a hint of purple. It's a beautiful colour, but the pigmentation is rather lacking. It's sheer, and requires building up. I do like the colour, but it is a little too sheer for my liking.
Queen of the Night is a blackened dark purple. The pigmentation isn't too bad, but I do wish the shimmer showed up a little more when the colour is applied to the lid.
My favourite shade in the palette is Slink. All of these colours blend easily and are long-lasting. They work very well together.
This palette usually costs £34. I purchased it for £15 during the sale, and whilst I am glad I bought it, I would be very disappointed if I paid £34 for it. I do not think that the palette is worth £34. Forgiveness is too sheer, and Queen of the Night is much nicer in the pan than it is on the lid. It's a shame, as this would be a lovely little palette, but the pigmentation of colours like Forgiveness and Queen of the Night is rather poor and although they are all beautiful in the pan, they do not translate well on the lid. I do use Slink quite regularly though, and it is a pretty palette for those of you who like purples.
This palette costs £34 and can be purchased from the Illamasqua website.
Have you tried any of Illamasqua's palettes?
Disclosure: I bought this palette myself.
