Monthly Summary: May

As always, this post is a little overdue. I mentioned recently that I was thinking about starting monthly summary posts, so I thought I would begin with May. It felt like May was gone in an instant. I refuse to believe that it is almost July. I feel like Spring has only just begun.

Overall, May was rather uneventful for me. I had three assignments and 14,000 words to hand in on May 24th, so I spent most of my time worrying about assignments and trying to organise my work. It was quite a stressful month! I actually receive my results for these assignments this Friday, and I am dreading it. I was very glad when May was over.

However, I did go on one little day trip to Derbyshire with Bree. We walked around Lathkill Dale, which was beautiful. The weather was wonderful, we walked for a good few hours and had tea overlooking the dale. Bree had a wonderful time swimming in the river and meeting other dogs. We also saw some cute little lambs, but I had to keep Bree on her lead as she thinks they are puppies. I took a least fifty photos, but the focus on my camera has broken and most of them were unfortunately unusable, so I can only show a tiny part of my day. I think I'm going to have to use the camera on my phone until I work out what it is wrong with it.

After walking around Lathkill Dale and enjoying the sunshine we headed to a little village for a slice of cake and another cup of tea. We also walked around a tiny church, and I met an adorable little cat. It was really friendly and came over for fuss. It actually made Figgy look unsociable, which is saying something! It was very loud and fussy. All the photos I took of the actual church were blurry so I couldn't include them.

It was a lovely day, and I'm incredibly disappointed that my photos do not show it. Fortunately I now have a decent phone camera which I can use when my camera is acting strange.

This is probably going to be a reoccurring theme for most of my summary posts, but I also bought books. I have actually been good recently and haven't bought too many books, but I couldn't resist venturing into a discount bookshop. I'm going to have to limit my book buying soon to concentrate on my dissertation.

This was taken on my phone, so I apologise for the quality. I already own both Frankenstein and Wuthering Heights, but my other copy of Frankenstein is part of a collection that is too bulky to carry around, and my other copy of Wuthering Heights is a secondhand edition and this one was just too pretty to resist! I also didn't realise that you could see my glasses case in this shot!

I don't think I will be posting a summary post for June, as it is already the sixteenth and I haven't visited anywhere interesting or done anything worthy of note. I am going away to visit my aunt in July though, which I am incredibly excited about so I will definitely post some photos of my visit! I'll also try to fix my camera so my photos aren't so appalling.

I hope you are having a wonderful week! Did you do anything interesting in May?

  1. Don't say that your life is boring, not everyone has to live the high society life with traveling and fashion shows! Living everyday with your friends and family (and your cute dog) is worth much more than doing fashion pics every day!

    1. Thank you lovely! I think I only consider my life to be boring at the moment because I'm sort of in stasis, waiting to finish my degree and waiting to pass my driving test and so on! It's a bit of a strange time.

  2. I am always buying books too!

Bree is beautiful! What breed is she?

It looks like a very lovely place! I wish I lived there!

    The cat is cute!

    1. I'm terrible, I cleared out some of my old books that I will never read again a few weeks ago and I have already filled my bookcases again. I need my own personal library!

Thank you! She's a patterdale and cocker spaniel cross. It's a strange mix of breeds but I love her! She's very good for a puppy.

It was a lovely place! I think I'm going to have to visit again before summer is over, as Bree loves it. It's quite far from where I live, but it's worth the car journey!
