The Crypt of Curiosities Review

Hello all! I hope you are all having an enjoyable February. So far my February has been quite chaotic. I turned twenty two, received my first set of MA results and I have been attempting to organise my work for my second semester, as I'm currently working my way through my final taught modules before research in the summer. I'm afraid I haven't had much time to do anything except university work, so I have again had to neglect this blog for a few weeks. I'm hoping that now my modules have started properly I can get into more of a routine with my work.

I thought I would return to this blog with another jewellery review. I have found myself ordering a few pieces from the lovely Clare at The Crypt of Curiosities recently, and I thought I would post a little review of what I bought. I always enjoy finding little businesses to buy from and thought that these may interest some of you. I actually first ordered from The Crypt of Curiosities in 2013. I ordered a beautiful crescent moon necklace which I loved, but I stupidly took it off at work to show a colleague, and after putting it down and leaving abruptly to answer the phone, I never found it again. I've been adding a few items to my Etsy wishlist since then, but I only recently made another purchase, which is odd as I adored my other necklace! I ordered a pair of purple glass earrings, a deathly hallows necklace and a bird skull necklace.

The Deathly Hallows necklace features the Deathly Hallows symbol inside a round glass frame, and is strung on a black chain. You unfortunately cannot tell from these photos, but the glass is domed, which I think enhances its intriguing appearance. I prefer raised necklaces to flat disc pieces. Some Deathly Hallows necklaces I have come across look quite cheap but the domed effect makes the necklace look a lot more sophisticated. I've had several people comment on this necklace whenever I have worn it out; it would make a wonderful gift. I apologise for the strange light on my photos of this necklace; I wasn't happy with my original shots and the sun was incredibly bright when I retook the photos.

I also purchased a bird skull necklace. I had been searching for a bird skull piece for quite some time. I wanted something elegant and small, but I could only find large skulls that seemed a little more gruesome than elegant. I saw this necklace on The Crypt of Curiosities Instagram, and I ordered it immediately. It's exactly what I was searching for. I'm very petite, and it is the perfect size for me. It isn't too small that it is overlooked, and it isn't overbearingly large. The skull is strung on a silver chain, which features black and silver glass beads on the end of the chain. The beads on the end of the chain are lovely touch.

I'm especially pleased with the necklaces because they fit me. I honestly do not remember the last time I ordered a necklace that I didn't have to alter. I can fasten these properly and they fit perfectly. I'm a very petite person, so finding necklaces that fit is quite a novelty!

Finally, I ordered a pair of purple glass earrings. They feature a circular stone adorned in a silver frame with floral engravings. They also have little purple glass beads hanging from the hooks. They are incredibly elegant, and look beautiful against dark hair. I unfortunately have not been able to include a photo of these being worn as my camera refuses to focus on them when I'm wearing them, which is such a pity! I like that they aren't too heavy, as I cannot wear heavy earrings without them pulling down my ears in a very unattractive way. I usually react to earrings made from all kinds of materials, but I have had no such problems with these. They do make my ears a little red when I first put them in, but this calms down after ten minutes or so and they are fine afterwards. I've had to give away so many pairs of earrings in the past as they normally sting and hurt, but I have been fine so far with these!

I'm incredibly pleased with all of my purchases. They feel sturdy, and the quality is excellent. Likewise, I have absolutely no complaints in regards to customer service. The items all arrived surprisingly quickly, and were beautifully packaged. I was astonished at how quickly they arrived. The packaging was lovely, I almost felt guilty when I had to tear it open!

I purchased these items from The Crypt of Curiosities on Etsy.

Disclosure: I purchased these products myself.
